CHAN 2016: Super Eagles To Begin Preparations In December
As part of the final preparations for the 2016 African Nations Championship (CHAN), the home based Super Eagles of Nigeria will commence training in the first week of December 2015, in Abuja. The Super Eagles are drawn in Group C along-side Tunisia, Niger and Guinea for the preliminary stages.
According to Vanguard, an official said: “The players will regroup by the first week of next month and will break for Christmas before they reconvene for a training camp overseas.”
It is revealed that Dubai and a country close to Rwanda are already considered for the final phase of the preparation.
Since FIFA made CHAN a full international tourney, the Nigeria Football Federation has made the competition a priority as performance at the tournament will as well be used as a yardstick to place teams at the FIFA World Ranking Table, which will automatically be used to seed teams for the final round of the 2018 World Cup Qualifiers.
The 2016 CHAN will be hosted by Rwanda from January 16, 2016.
